Our Story

Akiba Foundation Uganda, founded in 2017, began as a safe haven for children in need. Rooted in Christian values, the foundation works in close partnership with local communities and authorities to restore dignity, stabilize families, and transform lives. What started as a home for vulnerable children has expanded into a community-centered initiative focused on protecting the vulnerable, providing shelter for the homeless, and addressing the broader needs of society through impactful projects that reflect compassion and sustainable change. Through our various ministries and partnerships with local churches, we empower independent communities, protect the vulnerable, and prioritize indigenous autonomy. We invite you to join us!

We have over 37 full-time Ugandan and global staff/volunteers. We are here to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for vulnerable children in Uganda through foster care and holistic support, empowering them to thrive and reach their full potential. We are unwavered in our commitment to develop and support indigenous leadership. Our team of dedicated staff partners with the on-the-ground team in Uganda, supporting the work and developing our many partnerships. From administrators to social workers, councillors and farmers, each and every staff member plays a valuable role in the programs of the foundation.

Building a Self-Sustaining Community of Care

Akiba Foundation is developing a long-term community project designed to provide essential support services in one integrated space. This community will include schools for quality education, a health center for accessible medical care, and a rehabilitation center focused on recovery and re-integration. The aim is to create a stable environment where people can learn, heal, and live with dignity.
